Senior Accountant

Summary

Responsible for a broad range of accounting activities for American Family Care, including general ledger activities, preparation of financial statements, financial controls, audits, and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with standardizing operating procedures that improve and streamline current processes
  • Assist in the functions of payroll, payables, cash receipts, cash disbursements, and general ledger functions
  • Assist in the production and consolidation of monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statements, and accumulative general ledger
  • Prepare monthly closing general ledger entries
  • Reconcile Sales and Use Tax Liability Accounts
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are complete and reviewed in a timely manner
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and audits
  • Assist the CFO and Controller in ad hoc analysis and reporting
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Adhere to and recommend GAAP, best practices and internal controls
  • Regular attendance to ensure smooth departmental operations

Qualifications

BS degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of five years of accounting experience.  Demonstrated ability to improve processes and leverage technology and automation.  Strong customer service experience with internal and external customers.  Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and federal, state, and local finance law.  Experience with accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.  QuickBooks or Sage experience preferred.
