Healthcare Data Analyst

The Healthcare Data Analyst will oversee financial, clinical and revenue data management and analytics at American Family Care. This position will be responsible for compiling, organizing, and analyzing data to assist corporate leadership in decision-making.  


The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple EMR/PM systems, experienced in writing SQL statements and have expert Microsoft Excel and reporting writing skills. This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage large and varied data sets to optimize business operations and communicating the finding through the use of data visualization and detailed reports.
  • Pull and integrate data from disparate sources (e.g., cost and claims or clinical data).
  • Provide routine and ad hoc analytical reports to senior decision-makers.
  • Analyze reimbursement rates from different payers to assist management in contract negotiations.
  • Develop methods and tools to capture, report, combine and analyze data from disparate systems.
  • Perform “deep dive” analysis of large data sets to identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and patient care.
  • Distill large data sets into useful and meaningful data, reports, and presentations.
  • Monitor operational and financial data to discern patterns and trends and identify deviations from operational and financial norms.
  • Understanding data storage and data sharing methods.
  • Utilizing different data sources for analyses.
  • Converting data into usable information that is easy to understand.
  • Developing reports and presentations.
  • Communicating analytic insights to management.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Health Information Management, or related field
  • Healthcare experience and a thorough understanding of Revenue Cycle Management
  • 3+ years of related experience to include EMR/PM reporting
  • Ability to build and maintain complex reports, utilizing data from multiple sources
  • 3+ years of experience writing queries in Transact SQL in a production environment.
  • Proficiency Microsoft SQL Server and related tools.
  • Ability to translate complex findings into actionable recommendations
  • 3+ years experience in an analytic role.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and have knowledge of data management applications.
  • Analytical mindset with good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
